Making the decision to seek counseling is the first and most difficult step in this process. It is most important to me that I create an environment and relationship that are optimal for promoting positive change in your life. My office is warm and comfortable – the kind of place that invites you to relax and share what is on your mind. It is a place you can feel safe and protected. I am down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and exude a non-judgmental and motivating positive energy. Regardless of your concern I can help you move forward with more strength and clarity.
I work collaboratively with my clients supporting and meeting each person where they are in the process and guiding them to where they want to be. I offer a trusted, caring, genuine and safe relationship to my clients, believing that a natural connection with your therapist is the most important aspect of the counseling process. It is within this therapist and client relationship that healing and growth occurs. I am compassionate, respectful and nonjudgmental and I combine my positive energy with a grounded and realistic approach.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and received my Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
I enjoy working with adolescents, adults and couples. I have experience working working with clients with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship issues, life transitions, grief and loss, infertility, divorce, stress, parenting, trauma, family dynamics, setting boundaries and personal growth.
My approach is as primarily a relational therapist. I bring in other tools or techniques that may be beneficial depending on the client need and issue. A few of the tools in my tool belt that I use are cognitive-behavioral therapy, positive psychology and EMDR.
